Helping Mothers Feed Our Future Leaders

PARTNERSHIP with our sister organization (Love, DivineOne), we are providing the most basic needs of all babies and their mothers; access to food, formula and diapers, which improves the physical, mental and economic well-being of babies, families, and communities.

Love, DivineOne provides each mother formula, diapers and clothes for her infant. There are struggling families that can benefit from our supplies.

Our goal is to reach more than 200 families providing them with food, formula, diapers and clothes with donations of unopened formula, diapers and gently used clothing throughout the country each month

• Providing food to mothers so that they can produce milk with enough nutrients to feed their infants
• Raising awareness on how to choose the right formula that will give your infant the same benefits as breastmilk
• Supporting families by supplying formula, clothing and distributing diapers to babies suffering in Maryland and Sierra Leone.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is the feeding of babies and young children with milk from their mother’s breast which most health professionals like me, truly recommend. It begins within the first hour of a baby’s life and continue as much as the mother can produce milk. During the first few weeks of life babies may nurse roughly every two to three hours and the duration of a feeding is usually ten to fifteen minutes on each breast. Breastfeeding has several benefits to both mother and baby.

Formula

We promote formula for infants who may not be receiving enough nutrition from their mother’s milk. We know that depending on the mother’s diet the protein and other nutrients in breastmilk come from what her own body stores. When mothers do not get enough nutrients in their diet lactation can reduce their energy and nutrient reserves, a process known as maternal depletion. However, there are also adaptations that help protect the mother from these effects. The most important is appetite during lactation, a woman’s appetite generally increases. Increase in food intake helps meet the additional demands of lactation. Extra food must be made available to the mother during pregnancy and lactation.

Hygiene

Many diseases and conditions can be prevented or controlled through appropriate personal hygiene and by frequently washing parts of the body and hair with soap and clean running water. Good body washing practices can prevent the spread of hygiene-related diseases. The foundation focus on helping the children in the community to learn good personal hygiene. With that knowledge, they can help their family improve on their hygiene as they practice what they have learn in their household. The foundation will provide instructions and supplies for good personal hygiene. The areas of focus are as follows:
